Our Journey to Sahalie Falls

If I haven't mentioned it lately...my husband is WONDERFUL!

Last week, my husband came home smiling. Now, this is not a usual "I'm happy to be home smile". No. This was a "I hope you're gonna be happy but I don't know". To wives, this is the smile that draws the skeptical response "What did  you do?" response.

My hubby knows that we are on a very strict budget due to some future goals we have and cars we are paying off. Yet, having had some very stressful and busy weeks at work and our 9 month wedding anniversary just pass, my adorable husband had booked us an inexpensive stay in Portland, just 2 hours away.

Portland is our inexpensive vacation city. Whenever we want to get away for the night, Portland is our place!  So, when my husband told me that he found a way to get us a relaxing, much needed night away within our budget, I was beyond stoked! Not only was I getting a night away in one of our favorite places, but my skeptical "what did you do" response was met with good news and nothing like "I traded my car in for a hummer".

The second best part to my genius husband's plan was THERE WAS NO PLANS! Amen! When we go on trips, it without fail seems like we need a good vacation from our vacation. With all the plans we make for our trips, we never use any of the hotel amenities or even take a second to enjoy. We come home exhausted. So, knowing that we did not have to worry about what time we arrived at the hotel, had dinner,  etc was such a relief!

Our plan of no plans, however, was broken once. The hubby and I have been walking/exercising together lately and soon I realized, hey we have no plans, let's go to Sahalie Falls! (so much for no plans...I know).
This was SUCH a BREATH TAKING site to see! This waterfall was HUGE! You can feel the spray from quite a ways away!
Luckily, the hubby LOVED the idea!

After our hike, I think it is safe to say that the husband has traded in his love for Multnomah Falls, for the lovely Sahalie Falls now!

Sahalie Falls is located off of the gorgeous McKenzie Pass. If you can find parking, it worth the stop! There are three falls you can hike to. We only hiked to two...giving us a reason to come back again!

After spending a few blessed hours at these beautiful falls, we made our way via the scenic drive to Portland (actually that's a lie...it was Lake Oswego...) where we enjoyed the pools and some air conditioning (FINALLY). We also made our way to my FAVORITE restaurant, Spaghetti Factory, as well as Chris' favorite place Chipotle, followed by our new favorites, Food Trucks (now you can see why we enjoy hiking now...to fund our food addiction).

While it was only one night away, it was exactly what we needed and can't wait to go back again!
